First, if you have only one computer try unplugging your cable modem for at least 3 minutes and then plug it back in. Restart your computer and try again. If you still can’t access the internet the best series of action is to call the Road Runner help desk first. Their number is 727-324-1009. They are always the best first attempt because if the problem is with their equipment or system then the trouble call they book will be free. If it’s related to your computer, then a charge may be assessed by the vendor.
First, make sure the power cord is fully seated in the wall and the back of the computer. If it is secure and nothing happens when you press power, unplug the computer from power for a full 10 minutes. This will discharge the motherboard and the power supply. Plug it back in and press power. If it still does not turn on, it’s time to call a repair shop, like Knight PC at 727-524-6235 ext 251 for a service call. If your PC is under warranty, then calling the manufacturer should be your first method for repair.
As silly as it sounds, often times the plug (usually green) has come out of the back of the PC. Make sure it is plugged in securely to the sound port. It will be the same color as the plug itself. Also check the power cord to the speakers and the power switch, either on the volume knob or next to it on the main speaker.
This usually indicates that you have too many messages stored on the mail server. Try deleting any messages you no longer need. You can also log into your email via webmail.tampabay.rr.com and delete everything in all the folders. These are already on your computer if there is anything in them. This will clear space for new mail.
Most of the time, when a PC starts to slow down it’s due to viruses or spyware. Trying a spyware removal program like adaware or spybot (both free on the internet) can possibly help. Also, uninstalling any software that you no longer use may help. If the slowness persists, it’s better to have it checked by a repair shop. It’ll cost you a lot more in the long run if you remove something you shouldn’t have when you only needed a tune up. You can also request upgrades at that time.

On the broad-band internet it is an absolute requirement. Within 30 seconds of plugging your computer into the internet, if you do not have up to date anti-virus running, you will wish you had just a few minutes later. Get ready to ask for help from a repair technician because nothing good is about to happen. People thrive on exploiting the internet and security flaws. Don’t let it happen to you.
